BBC Sampling Documentary

A few days ago BBC Radio 1 broadcast a pretty good documentary about sampling beats for hip-hop tracks. Usually these types of documentaries discuss the legal aspects of sampling, from copyright laws to their impact on the music. This one just talks about the practical aspects (not how samplers are used, but how samples are discovered), and includes some very famous beats. It’s a nice change, not that I don’t enjoy the legal discussions as well. Radio 1 produced a documentary on record collecting awhile back that wasn’t nearly as good.
I spent a huge portion of the day working on the writing competition for next year’s journals. This thing is going to take a lot of time. I finally decided to take a break and add the long awaited (for me anyway) commenting ability to this site, using YACCS. If all goes well, you should now be able to comment on all of my posts.
