Festival Atmosphere

+ July 7, 2002

Spiritualized played a festival in Cornwall this weekend at the Eden Project. I'm jealous of anyone that got to go. Spiritualized played here in Boston a few months ago, an early evening show at Avalon during my exams (I didn't get to go). In England they're playing in the middle of summer next to a set of artificial environments encased in giant glass domes. How can the US be so uncool?

The UK has always been able to successfully host really amazing festival-style concerts. I think a big factor in this success is the country's dense population (relative to the US). I'm especially impressed with some of these new forward thinking festivals. The Eden one "has no sponsorship, no branding and the artists play for a small fee."
